Shieldaig Bar and Restaurant, Tigh an Eilean Hotel, Ross-shire
New-build Bar and Restaurant

The village of Shieldaig sits on the West coast of Scotland 4 to 5 hours drive North of Linlithgow. The owners of the Tigh an Eilean Hotel contacted EKJN in 2002 after visitng Fishers In The City, a seafood restaurant Jon Newey had designed in 1999.

The new bar allows the hotel to serve more customers with the top quality seafood for which it is renowned, accompanied by an assortment of real ales. The design includes a series of balconies and outside terraces overlooking the Shieldaig sea-loch.

Sustainable features include recycled school lab benches for the bar, recycled copper sheeting, local stone paving and a heat-recovery ventilation system.

The new Shieldaig Bar and Restaurant was completed in 2008 and was named the Best Dining Pub in Scotland in the 2012 Good Beer Guide.
