Magpie House, Morningside
Dining Room Extension and Internal Alterations to existing End-Terrace House in Morningside

Magpie house combines traditional materials with contemporary detailing to create a stunning extension to this family home.

Bi-fold doors allow the new Dining Room extension to open fully onto a new external patio which is finished with premium sandstone paving slabs. Meanwhile an enormous flat roof skylight over the extension allows natural light to flood into the extension and adjacent Kitchen area which is located within the footprint of the existing house.

The building sits within a conservation area and the construction techniques reflect this, with traditional slate roof and stone repairs a key part of the works. Internally a new Shower Room, Bathroom and custom-built internal shelving all bring the house up to high quality modern standards suitable for 21st-century living.

The works are completed with underfloor heating combined with a smart heating system to optimise thermal performance and sustainability throughout the building.

The house is named in honour of a magpie who was living on the construction site for much of the build.
