Lafferty House, Westfield
Eco-Friendly Ground Floor Extension and Overhaul of Existing House
The Lafferty House sits on a large plot within the grounds of the 16th Century Bridge Castle Tower House. The extension replaces an earlier conservatory and enhances the dwelling's connection with outdoor spaces.
The re-working of the ground floor of the house creates much-needed family spaces. Bespoke features include triple-sliding patio windows, curved ceilings, disappearing doors and a modern Kitchen.
The refit includes underfloor heating in multiple zones fed from an accumulator tank heated by a gasification biomass boiler to give year-round low carbon heating and hot water.
Externally, Siberian Larch weatherboards contrast with grey decking made from recycled plastic.
