Hoist House, South Queensferry
Accessible Bedroom and Bathroom Extension
 

Enhanced accessibility was the main aim of this project. The clients required an accessible Bedroom and accessible Bathroom on the Ground Floor level to allow the house to continue to fit their needs.

The solution was a single-storey side extension to the house with a new Bedroom and En Suite Bathroom. The form and materials were designed to be similar to the existing house to allow the extension to look as though it had always been there. Internally ceiling-mounted hoists are included in both the Bedroom and Bathroom to allow full accessibility of the facilities.

The project included relocating a streetlight and gas meter within the garden to allow the extension to be constructed. The project achieved completion in 2018.
